This new program offers mentorship, a bootcamp and small loans for women's small businesses

As a leading business in the beauty industry, Sephora continues to influence a number of spheres from high-fashion runway shows to emerging beauty bloggers. Now, the company hopes to foster success within ambitious businesses specifically led by women. Sephora Accelerate will select a few beauty businesses—defined as businesses creating everything from cosmetic products to tech items—to participate in a week-long bootcamp, receive guidance from industry and startup experts, and take home a special grant.

Corrie Conrad, Head of Social Impact at Sephora, explained more about the program in an email:

“Being an entrepreneur is hard no matter what, but there are certain barriers to entry that prove to impact women more than men. For example, research suggests that women are less self-assured than men. Some have called this the “confidence gap.” Additionally, networks matter and it’s often those networks that help lead to access to capital and funding.”

The program will use five distinct categories to select its first group of entrepreneurs. The categories—Vision, Innovation, Product, Plan, Social Impact—analyze different areas of not only production but also individual entrepreneurial qualities like passion.
